Location
Leela Kempinski Kovalam Beach is 13 kilometres from Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala state in south west India. Trivandrum International Airport is 15 kilometres away. Kovalam Beach developed from the 1930s, when the then Maharajah of Travancore entertained his European guests there. It has since grown into one of southern India’s best-loved beach destinations, combining tropical scenery, stunning beaches with plenty of culture and history. Trivandrum is an ancient city of some 750,000 residents, once an important spice trading post and now better known as a major academic and technological hub. It retains many fine historic buildings and cultural sights, and has a laid-back, relaxed feel.
