Location
The Rambagh Palace is eight kilometres outside Jaipur’s city walls and 11 kilometres from the airport in the north western Indian state of Rajastahan. Jaipur is capital city of Rajasthan and, unlike many Indian cities, was founded relatively recently in 1727, and has wide, regular streets, and distinctive, pink-tinged buildings built out of the local red sandstone or dressed with pink stucco. One of the city’s most famous sights is the Palace of the Winds, with its numerous street-facing windows, once used by royal ladies to view the streets below. Other interesting sights include the Jantar Mantar royal observatory, the Amber Fort and the Jal Mahal water palace.
