Maho’s Ayurveda Centre is a fully-equipped specialist facility, set in tranquil surroundings and comprising several separate treatment areas and private treatment rooms. It houses fragrant herbal-fired saunas and an expertly-stocked and manned ayurvedic pharmacy. On arrival you will have a complete ayurveda consultation before embarking upon your recommended course of traditional ‘panchakarma’ therapies. A herbal treatment will start the treatments to help purge your body of toxins. Your consultant will also help you select a healthy diet during your stay in Sri Lanka, with all meals and drinks matched to ayurveda principles.
Your Ayurvveda Wellness Programme features five treatments per day at the Maho Ayurveda Centre, choosing from a wide range of therapies, including:
- Preventative maintenance treatments – palm-applied oil treatments to encourage healthy complexion, longevity and strength and to stimulate all the organs of the body. The specialist panchakarma treatment is a five-stage therapy to encourage complete physical and mental well-being
- Head massage – 30-minute treatment to improve circulation and promote the natural working of your senses. Head massages can cure headaches, prevent hair loss and premature greying, improve your complexion, encourage natural sleep patterns and focus on refractive eye problems
- Shirolepana – a herbal application to the head which is then left for several hours and recommended for stress and insomnia
- Shirodhara – this 90-minute morning treatment is mainly for psychiatric problems and epilepsy and consists of an oil stream on the forehead
- Face massage – helps promote youthful skin, cleansing, nourishing and elasticity, and also includes a stimulating neck and shoulder massage
- Abhyanga – this full body massage uses oil to stimulate all the body’s organs and to help complexion and strength. You can also take the similar udyarthana treatment using herbal paste rather than oil
- Synchron massage – herbal oil massage applied by two therapists to focus on blood circulation and nerves
- Swedha Kuti – this herbal hot air chamber is a form of sauna, and helps to treat stiffness and cleansing of the skin
- Nasya - herbal oil treatment to purify the head, throatm nose and sinuses
- Sarwangadhara – oil treatment tailored to the patient’s personal elements
- Avagaha Sweda – herbal bath which helps the skin and improves circulation
