Located in Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand, Chiva-Som is 230 kilometres south west of Bangkok and approximately 10 kilometres from the airport. Hua Hin became fashionable from the 1920s when the Thai Royal Family built a summer home there, which is still used as one of their principal residences. The town has a lively night market and there is plenty to do in the area. Phra Pathom Chedi, one of the biggest pagodas in the world, is nearby and you can visit the Elephant Village to get up close to these magnificent animals and take an elephant ride into dense tropical forests.
